NBC Cancels Welcome to Sweden

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (July 29, 2015) -- NBC has cancelled the comedy, Welcome to Sweden, after two seasons, Entertainment Weekly writes.

The reason for the ax? "Craptasically low ratings," show star and creator Greg Poehler (Any's brother) said yesterday on Instagram.

By that, Poehler meant that Welcome to Sweden averaged just 1.2 million viewers in its second season, compared to 2.4 million in the four-episode season one. Neither number was worth writing home about -- if you'll forgive the pun -- and NBC had no choice to cancel the fish-out-of-country comedy.

There are six episodes left in season two and Entertainment Weekly writes that NBC has not decided if and when to air them. Poehler, though, urges viewers to tune in --  if they can -- because the remaining shows will feature such guest stars as Paul Simon, Jack Black and Neve Campbell.

Welcome to Sweden stars Poehler as an American accountant who moves to Sweden to be with his girlfriend.
